Government ready for compromise?

Reports coming in from Delhi suggest that the Government is desperately looking for a way out of the current Anna Hazare crisis as the fast entered the 8th day. Doctors monitoring Anna Hazare’s health say that the veteran activist lost 6 kilos already and his health is deteriorating.
This has put pressure on the Government and the UPA leadership is reportedly holding talks with various other political parties to make amendments to its version of the Lokpal Bill. The proposed changes may even bring the PM under the purview of the Lokpal Bill.
Meanwhile, booker prize winner Arundhati Roy made a scathing attack on Anna Hazare and his movement saying that what he is proposing will create two monsters instead of one. Legal experts and many social activists echo her sentiments. But the Anna Hazare movement has largely enjoyed massive public support across the country and that is the reason why the Government may be forced to compromise its stand.
